Our Tariffs for Drinking Water and Drainage

1. Drinking water tariff

The tariff for drinking water supply is made up of a basic price and a volumetric price. The basic price (standing charge) is charged for the provision of the water supply facilities (including waterworks, pumping stations, pipes) and for providing the measuring equipment. The basic price is charged on a daily basis and depends on the size of the main water meter installed (Q3/Qn) and, for meters up to meter size Q3 10/Qn 6, also according to the volume of water used yearly above this. Where: the larger the meter the higher the basic price.

The volumetric price is calculated according to the volume of drinking water used in cubic metres (1 cubic metre equals 1,000 litres).

Our volumetric price is 1.694 euros net/1.813 euros* gross per cubic metre.

The prices were published on 6 December 2019 in the Official Gazette No. 50.

2. Drainage Tariffs**

The drainage tariffs include the charges for the disposal (drainage) of wastewater (sanitary wastewater and surface water) as well as for the removal of faecal water and faecal sludge.

2.1 Wastewater

We also charge a basic price and a volumetric price for wastewater drainage. The volumetric price is 2.210 euros per cubic metre.

2.2 Surface water

The surface water charge is 1.797 euros per square metre (m²) drained surface area and year. The charge is assessed according to the built and hard-surfaced (impermeable) area, from which surface water is discharged into the public sewer system. If local rainwater management measures are implemented, a pro rata or even complete exemption from the surface water charge is possible. For detailed information, refer to § 15  b of the “General Terms and Conditions for Drainage in Berlin” (“Allgemeinen Bedingungen für die Entwässerung in Berlin” - ABE), which are linked above.

2.3 Faecal water

We charge 1.898 euros per cubic metre to remove faecal water from septic tanks/cesspools. The individual costs for the tanker truck company are added to this.

2.4 Faecal sludge

The disposal of faecal sludge from small wastewater treatment plants costs 11.882 euros per cubic metre. The individual costs for the tanker truck company are added to this.

**The drainage tariffs are exempt from VAT.
